TWM Factory , Roma

Spontaneous Anatomies is an exhibition that explores the relationship between art and food as a cultural, symbolic and relational practice.

Curated by Paola Farfaglio and Benedetta Carpi De Resmini, the project brings together works by various artists who worked throughout 2025 on two parallel projects: Anatomie del Nutrimento, curated by Cities Art Projects (featuring Caretto-Spagna and Gaia & Greta Scaramella), and Roots and Routes, organised by Latitudo Art Projects as part of the European platform Magic Carpets (Camille Orlandini, Ombretta Gamberale and Gaia Scaramella). Both initiatives involved various communities in Municipal Districts III and XV and explored food as a means of bringing people together and as a language capable of fostering collective, educational and reflective practices.

The exhibition explores elements in transformation: those of ingredients, of the gestures that shape them, but also those of art, which observes, breaks down and reassembles reality. It serves as an invitation to observe how art and food share a common spirit: that of continuous transformation, of mutual nourishment and of the possibility that arises every time we engage with living matter.

The exhibition took place at Parentesi, an exhibition space within Roma Smistamento – TWM Factory, a former industrial building now serving as a cultural centre dedicated to contemporary research, artist residencies and participatory projects.
The exhibition invites the public to observe how art and food share the same transformative potential: both undergo change through use, time and interaction, generating new imaginaries from living matter and shared experience.

Gaia presents Milk, a work exploring milk as a primary source of nourishment, a meditation on the importance of care, whilst also drawing attention to the plight of children facing a lack of milk in war-torn contexts
