The magnifying glass takes centre stage in the work; it both shields and compels the viewer to peer into domestic reality and the microcosm of the beehive.
This observation pushes the viewer to the very limits of their fears and revulsion towards the dangerous nest, creating an unprecedented close encounter.
The scene that unfolds is that of a funeral ceremony for the queen.
