Legami o Legami
Project type
Site-specific installation
Year
2011
Locations
Palazzo della Permanente, Milano (2011). Moma Hostel, Roma (2021).
Technique
resin and elastic threads
The work reveals its meaning through the very elements that make up the installation—from the angled walls to the strands of thread that evoke veins, arteries, capillaries, and ligaments, to the hands themselves.
The threads, varying in color and length, conceptually maintain the dimensions of the human interior, laid bare in the absence of bodies or shells.
Like an embrace, like a vice, they stretch from wall to wall, closing off and interweaving “the corner.”
A state of closure, of being blocked… Anguish, from the Latin angus = narrow corner, means: to experience a reduction to the sidelines, a “being cornered.”
The work touches on the theme of bonds, of the close entanglement that very often traps, binds, and imprisons.
The title consists of two words written identically but with two different meanings, yet also two words that can be read the same way, in either sense.
