Città Foresta - Le Cosmicomiche

Città Foresta – le Cosmicomiche is the winning project of the Estate Romana 2023–2024 call for proposals, a biennial workshop-based festival conceived by Benedetta Carpi De Resmini and curated by Latitudo Art Projects, dedicated to imagining new worlds through collaboration between artists, associations and local communities. The neighbourhoods involved are Labaro, Laurentino, Corviale, Tufello and Trullo.

The central theme of the project is the creation of sustainable alternatives, based on the values of respect for the environment, reuse and creative recycling. Workshop participants were invited to transform recycled materials into new forms of expression, giving rise to a shared process of invention and experimentation.

Città Foresta was conceived as a space for dialogue, co-creation and reflection, with the aim of connecting neighbourhoods and strengthening the bond between people and the places they live in.

In the workshops led alongside Gaia Scaramella, the children reinvented objects and materials that had fallen into disuse. Through techniques of assembly and collage, magazines, card, boxes and recycled paper were transformed into original and playful puppets, brought to life by the imagination and creativity of the participants.
