Joan of Arc did not use the bow as her primary weapon. Although chronicles and historical accounts describe her as an armed heroine, she usually fought on the front line wielding a sword and was accompanied by her unmistakable white banner. The bow, on the other hand, was the main ranged weapon used by archers.
Here, Joan takes hold of the crystal bow, as a metaphor for strength and fragility.
